June 2019 Renovations

The Good Haus project has been phased to address both the immediate stabilization needs and a full renovation and expansion of the building. This month we will see a mitigation of mold and mildew, and a building cleanup that includes the removal of hazardous elements.

Mode Architects’ renovation design is a concept that includes an addition on the north side of the property housing an elevator. The Brewery District Commission approved the plans at its May meeting.

The visual character of the exterior of the building is largely intact, but most of the significant interior architectural elements were sold at auction in August 2011. Stained glass windows, fireplace mantels, and oak paneling were removed. These current conditions dictate a rehabilitation, rather than a strict restoration. The building will be made useful and functional, while preserving any remaining historic features.
