Experiencing the Essentials with Six Board
Presidents
The first
publication of the Academy, this book is written by seasoned board presidents
for presidents-elect and new board presidents. It addresses the crucial role of
the board president in the conduct of organizational life and focuses on core
issues of board leadership such as discovering your leadership voice, working
together with the executive, engaging the board, and organizational ethics. 104
pages. $20* each.
Behind each of us is a trail of boards
(most happily) where we have worked, wrestled and wondered about matters of
great and small importance. That has been our fertile ground of training.
Whatever we may know or be able to do or value is because of those fine and
forebearing executives and board members who have been our colleagues in one
good cause or another. And through the fortuitous merger of our six
diverse trails, we have found commonality of experience and insights we hope
will be of value to others embarking on similar presidential journeys...

Our conviction is that what you have
agreed to do is most significant and that you deserve assistance and
satisfaction in the doing of it. Our hope is that you will find something
on the pages that follow that will inform, enhance, and enliven your term as
board president.
